Chemical resistance of wheels and castors

Use this page to compare common wheel and castor materials against chemical media. This is a HENTAKE static prototype: all ratings must be replaced with confirmed material-test data before launch.

Rating key

++
Usually suitable, still confirm concentration, temperature and contact time.
+
Limited suitability; sample or material confirmation is recommended.
=
Evaluate carefully; not advised directly for critical applications.
-
Not recommended; use another material or protection method.

Confirm before selection

Provide chemical medium, concentration, temperature, contact time, cleaning frequency, floor condition, speed, load and whether the wheel is immersed. Tread, wheel centre, bearings, grease, plating and stainless-steel grade all affect the result.

Chemical medium / environmentPolyurethaneNylon / PARubberPhenolic resinCast iron / steelStainless-steel bracketNote
Water / humid environment++++=-++Bearings and bracket corrosion protection must be checked separately.
Sea water / salt spray==+--+Long-term salt spray requires stainless grade and bearing sealing confirmation.
Mineral oil / lubricating oil+++=+++++Confirm oil type and contact method.
Petrol / fuel=+-+++++Rubber tread swelling risk must be checked.
Alcohol+++=++++Concentration and cleaning frequency affect results.
Weak acid===--+Acid type, concentration and temperature must be confirmed.
Strong acid-----=Do not choose standard castor materials directly.
Weak alkali=+=--+Cleaning frequency and residue time must be confirmed.
Strong alkali-=---=Engineering selection is required.
Cleaning agent / disinfectant=+=--+Formula, concentration and rinsing method must be checked.
Solvent / thinner-=-=++++Most tread materials require sample testing.
Outdoor UV+====++Long-term outdoor use also requires temperature and aging checks.
